LatencyPulse Privacy Policy

Overview

LatencyPulse is designed to run entirely on your Mac. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, and it does not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs of any kind.

Information We Collect

LatencyPulse itself collects nothing. The app generates network health data — Wi-Fi network name, connection type, frequency band, signal strength, and latency samples — purely to compute baselines for your own reference.

This data is stored only in a local file in Application Support on your Mac. It is never transmitted to the developer or to any third party.

Permissions LatencyPulse Requests

Location Services: macOS requires Location access for any app to read the current Wi-Fi network name (SSID) via CoreWLAN. LatencyPulse uses this solely to label your network baselines. It does not track, log, or transmit your physical location, and if access is denied the app continues to work with the network shown as "Unknown Network."

Notifications: used to alert you locally when your network health changes (degraded, poor, offline, or recovered). No data leaves your device to generate these alerts.

Network Requests Made by the App

To measure latency, LatencyPulse periodically sends a small HTTP HEAD request to a probe target you choose (Apple, Google, Cloudflare, or a custom URL). This request contains no personal information and exists only to time a round trip — the response itself is discarded once the timing is recorded.

Data Storage, Export, and Deletion

Baseline data is stored locally as a JSON file in your Mac’s Application Support directory. You can export this data to a file of your choosing, import a previous export, or delete it entirely at any time by removing the app or its data file. Uninstalling LatencyPulse removes all locally stored baseline data.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose any data to third parties, because no data ever leaves your device in the first place.

Children's Privacy

LatencyPulse is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age, since it collects no personal information at all.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date.
